    The number of items in the top level of the menu (and the width of the labels) is variable. (CMS)

    Is it possible to have the breakpoint adapt to this, so the menu goes to “mobile mode” when it does not fit?

    It’s possible on theory to create a JavaScript solution that would detect the items’ width and adjust the breakpoint as needed but there isn’t a trivial pure CSS solution. But I wouldn’t really worry about this that much – it’s not a major issue that affects usability or accessibility in any way, it’s just a visual glitch.
